FRACKING IN THE UK CASE STUDY: WEST SUSSEX

West Sussex is under threat

Fracking company Celtique Energie has two applications to drill in and around the South Downs National Park.

Now a local anti-fracking group is calling for all of West Sussex to be declared Frack-Free.

The local residents’ group Keep Kirdford and Wisborough ‘Green’ have set up a petition on the council’s website. Please support them by adding your name. West Sussex sits on shale rock formations, which could hold significant resources of shale oil. And fracking companies are keen to exploit these resources. But if drilling goes ahead, it could put more pressure on local water supplies, increase traffic in the local lanes and threaten protected wildlife, such as bats and songbirds. And that’s before we’ve even mentioned the impacts on climate change.

Sign the petition for a Frack-Free West Sussex

We have less than two weeks to gather 3,000 signatures from anyone who lives, works or studies in West Sussex. If we reach 3,000 names the County Council will have to debate the petition at full Cabinet.

Add your voice to the growing call to keep West Sussex Frack-Free

We’re already half way there. With just 1,500 more signatures, we can win a discussion about a Frack-Free West Sussex
